Woman Arrested in Sakyi Case as Hunt Continues

Arrest and Investigation Progress

Thames Valley Police has arrested a 40-year-old woman from Milton Keynes on suspicion of assisting an offender in connection with efforts to locate Emmanuel Sakyi. The woman has been released under investigation as the police continue their inquiries. This arrest is part of the ongoing search for Sakyi, who remains at large despite being convicted of causing the death of his seven-month-old daughter through dangerous driving.

Conviction and Sentencing Details

On Monday, 29 June, Sakyi was convicted in his absence of causing death by dangerous driving and sentenced to 15 years' imprisonment. The conviction relates to a collision that occurred on 4 December 2022, when Sakyi was driving his grey Peugeot 508 on the wrong side of the road between Bond Avenue roundabout and Fenny Lock roundabout in Milton Keynes.

Sakyi was more than two-and-a-half times the legal drink-drive limit when his vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a Fiat 500. Tragically, his daughter Emmanuela, aged just seven months old, died from injuries she sustained in the collision after not being properly secured in an appropriate child seat.

Collision Reconstruction and Public Appeal

As part of this renewed appeal, Thames Valley Police is releasing collision reconstruction footage and images of the vehicles involved to illustrate the devastating consequences of dangerous and drink-driving. Sakyi is described as a black man of medium build, with black hair and brown eyes, and is around 5ft 3ins tall.

Detective Inspector Justin Thomas, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, stated that nearly four years ago, seven-month-old Emmanuela lost her life because her father chose to drink drive. He emphasized that Sakyi should be behind bars but remains at large. The police are continuing their enquiries to locate Sakyi and are urging the public for assistance.

Impact on Family and Community

Following the crash, Sakyi left the scene on foot before later being arrested by officers. His wife, Ruth Oppong, aged 34, was also sentenced to one year and nine months' imprisonment, suspended for two years, following a trial at Aylesbury Crown Court after being convicted of aiding and abetting causing death by dangerous driving and causing unnecessary suffering or injury to a child.

Inspector Thomas urged anyone who knows Sakyi's whereabouts or has information that could help locate him to come forward. He emphasized the seriousness of the case and the need for the community to assist in ensuring justice is served for Emmanuela.

Public Assistance and Reporting Guidelines

Anyone with information about Sakyi's whereabouts should call 101 or make a report online, quoting reference 20260622-2396. If the public sees Sakyi, they are advised not to approach him and instead call 999 immediately. Information can also be provided anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or online.
